Beacon – Winter Bouldering Aggregate 2018-19
19th October 2018 - 31st March 2019£2
The Beacon Winter Boulder Aggregate returns for another season, starting on Saturday 20th October after our AUTUMN BOULDERING COMP on Friday 19th October. Last season we made it to an incredible 500 problems… how many can we set this year?
What is it?
An informal ‘aggregate style’ competition running from October to March and open to all climbers, whereby you score points for every designated Boulder Aggregate climb that you complete during the competition period. At the end of March, the climbers with the highest number of points in each of the gender/age categories will win an awesome prize courtesy of our event sponsors.
How does it work?
Enter by purchasing your score card from reception for £2 (all proceeds donated to the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team), then try to climb as many of the designated Boulder Aggregate problems as you can.
Every boulder included in the competition is given a number, displayed next to the starting holds. Each boulder can be attempted as many times as you like but must be climbed ‘clean’ from the starting holds to successfully matching the finishing hold to qualify as a successful ascent. If you successfully climb a problem, place a tick on your score card next to the relevant number, revel in your glory for a moment, then go and try another problem! Every problem is worth 1 point irrespective of difficulty, so the more your climb the higher your cumulative score becomes.
We aim to add new problems every week so you should have something new to try every session. Just remember that the aggregate works numerically with the highest problem numbers representing the newest boulders. Be tactical and try to tick the lowest numbers first before they are removed to make way for newer problems.
Please return your score card to reception when you leave after each session, otherwise we will not be able to record your points.
